started on next chapter = new level in advance. Since i've decided to not find a job from now til N4 to prepare for N4 i must fulfill my purpose
Sara n i were in ION foodcourt when she had finished eating and i was still savouring me prawn noodles.
my hands were trembling with excitement as i typed on my friend's PowerBook. We had to work on a powerpoint presentation. He had something on so i helped out. Haven't dealt with a Mac for a long time so had to get used to it. He called to see if everything was alright, i said all's fine at the moment - cos the PowerBook just got fully charged
Less than 5 minutes after i switch it on i tried the basics i called him
me: erm..u noe..in Windows when we want to open a file we right-click? erm..how how i do it in your PowerBook (a PowerBook is a lappy but it is A POWERBOOK)
my friend: oh, (although the Mac Mouse is one whole button) you can (still) right click on it X3
needless to say we started laughing so loud that the whole neighbourhood could hear me from maybe a block away
the more i worked with the PowerBook, the more useless my laptop seems. But practically speaking this is my laptop that i always use so i will honour my lappy. i'm just glad i've this wonderful chance of a lifetime to work in a higher-end PowerBook
and of course i look forward to changing my platform to Mac but still keep a Windows platform X3
it's true
i cannot understand Sensei most of the time. Say i'm stressed i am, say i duno i duno. Subliminal Japanese - i'm far from it. There's a book in Kino about it. But wat's more important is preparing for N
but i'm really stressed up for next week's final level test - it's more of an exam really cos if i fail this one i cannot advance to next level
i have decided - to dedicate autumn anime season to watching only Gundam if Hakuouki fails. I will continue to wait for Ai no Kusabi and blush at any good new released BL OVA (the latest really heats up the temperature...never felt like this for so long)
Read more...lucky i not working..i just looked at my homework and realised i have to write a mini-composition, one for each of the 2 lessons of homework. If i'm working, confirm i can't finish. See, the problem is translation: in my brain it's English, on paper it must be Japanese. Not only composition, completing sentences as well
It may seemed that the curriculum planner thinks it's so easy to just whack two mini-compositions to be done within a week without realising how taxing it can be on the students who work and study at the same time cos after work, one will be so dead tired. The planner has no welfare understanding causing the working-student not to bother about the heavy homework after a long day thus no handing in of work which results in one week of lesson revision gone for nothing
However if so then what about part-time working university students? They have far much heavier work to do - i assume they need to do lotsa research and write thesis, regardless if it's in a language that they're familiar with. For them it's a "do or die" thing - u wanna get ur degree, u must do it
true?
Togainu no Chi..guess it's worth the wait. i think the animators may have redeemed my disappointment at the anime industry
Gone are the usual inky bright colours, many-movement scenes and conventional camera angles
it's not for boys, but for girls actually. Not much of a starry-eyed thingy as well. The dark atmosphere in the anime is not so sombre so as not to scare the fans away and not so light to me as to wave it off and remark that it's just another anime
maybe i rarely watch anime of this nature so it comes as a "ok, just continue watching"
but somehow the background and the characters...how to say..it's as if it's poorly done or they had a strict budget or couldn't be bothered: usually the still backgrounds would seem to "move" with the character but this is like watching some few-years-ago-Canadian-cartoon: the background is fixed and not well-blended with the character. i guess Togainu no Chi's idea is just to follow only the characters' movements and strip down the subliminal-background movement - the environment is set in a dark place after all
it's straight-forward, unlike most anime i've watched since the fall release, they throw the main plot in the first ep, already bringing out the 2nd lead character. Perphaps they're following the game sequence? They are smart to throw in the main plot + 2nd lead character in the first ep - not much of the anime series i've watched would have done that. If Togainu no Chi doesn't do it, they're gonna lose a (maybe) substantial number of TV rating
this anime kinda works because for they minus the usual-elaborate-ness of most anime which woke my senses up as if it's a fresh method of presenting an anime, my brain relaxes more in this anime and my eyes capture simplistic character movements. It's as if someone had taken a huge knife and sliced the air, saying, "Cut the 'noisy'-elaborateness."
i was right in not eagerly anticipating this anime series, or hype about it, just have almost a "pass me by" attitude to it
cos for now i will say that this is the only October series i will 'faithfully' stick to
did my Koi Cafe review X3
Gundam Unicorn
to which i was told that's what Gundam really is, not Gundam 00, by die-hard Gundam fans
being an absolute newbie to Gundam, i was confused and wonder why the characters are so old-drawn? the person who uploaded the video didn't upload it to the fullest, n got me searching for a long time to find the end
after two hours of searching n re-watching the repeated part (just in case i missed any part) i've finally finished watching the whole thing. While waiting for the final part to load i read about it and realised the timeline of Gundam Unicorn - very old timeline, way way way WAY before Celestial Being
And wat's with the English announcements in the OVA? Trying to promote English? C'mon..or maybe i'm really a newbie in Gundam not to realise anything about the timeline - i can't read Japanese novels at all, nor watch without English subtitles
no offense to the real Gundam fans but i was bored - there was too much talk and a little action. Pace-wise i prefer Gundam 00 - the action had already started a few minutes into its first episode. HOWEVER i cannot compare it this way as i'd realised Gundam Unicorn is like an OVA format, and as i read, released only twice a year
The fun part came when the lead character of the story Banagher Links - no offence but now i'd realised why "Links" sound so familiar...Link, the main character of the the game Legend of Zelda..SORRY!!! Really i'm a failure to the real Gundam fans...i say real = die-hard cos they have been following the Gundam series for a very long time
i've seen Gundam Unicorn's 2m model and another replica in the Mecha Exhibition - it was only in the anime that i'd realised the majestic awesomeness of it, at the final part when it was revealed. My heart had never throbbed so enthusiatistically - it's been a long time since i've felt this way for any anime besides Gundam 00 that i am soooooo waiting for Gundam Unicorn's next episode to be released.
Come to think of it, AFA should show Gundam Unicorn's 2nd ep instead of Gundam 00's movie, after Gundam Unicorn's 2nd ep release Gundamm 00's movie's yesterday's news - somehow AFA should come up with fresher stuffs to be as real-time to Japan as possible - that's when maximum J-culture really means. LP n i talked about AFA..the more we talked about it, the more boring the topic became - somehow i have come to a point that there's really nothing new except hoping to see new Gundam models which AFA still needs lotsa brush-up for it
Maybe Danny Choo should be the one of the head of AFA, then maybe there's a reason to look forward to, cos Danny Choo is a walking J-culture experience to be respected. With his unlimited J-culture ideas i'm sure he will inject so many fresh stuffs into AFA - only if he's the one of the overall-in-charge...
But i'm looking forward to AFA - seeing cosplayers. Hope there are new cosplay characters this year due to Fall's anime release
but...speaking of anime...my classmates said the anime industry is falling - i couldn't believe it when i heard it. But come to think of it, of all the new anime releases i was anticipating there was only a few - Uragiri wa Boku No Namae wo Shitteiru, Seito Kaichou ni Chuukoku OVA 2 and Kuroshitsuji Season 2.
Fall's release..so far i've watched Iron Man, Bakuman, Psychic Detective Yakumo and Super Robot Taisen
Super Robot Taisen
i know very little about the game. i needed some mecha therapy after Gundam 00 and thought this could be it. It wasn't until in the middle of its first ep that i got turned off, "Wait a minute, the female pilot - did did i see bouncing boobs - and tits?!!! What de -" and the ending credits got me sick with all the females in ecchi drawings (ecchi pug!). It wasn't until i read a review that said something like this anime is for mecha ecchi otaku..i gave up. i'm not familiar with the seiyuu anyway..
Bakuman
looks like a visual novel. Slow pace. Boring. i think reading the manga's better. Somehow struggling mangaka and seiyuu doesn't appeal to me - not that it doesn't but there's no kick..the episode just drones on and on and on..just like real life..routine..on n on n on..u get the picture
Psychic Detective Yakumo
surprisingly it failed to catch my attention after waiting for it eagerly! No way i could compare it to Death Note cos the latter did not catch my attention either - only the manga. Yakumo looks so much like Death Note's Yagami Light. It has come to a shrug-nothing's-new point.
Iron Man
i was like "huh? is the anime industry really falling? so badly that a foreign collaboration is needed?!" all i can say is - bold move. I was curious to see how the Japanese animators Japan-ised ang mo comic characters and without compromise. It is strange to see angular, more-wrinked, yet smooth cheeks and un-anime eyes for the first time. I felt - distant and like a fish out of the water, facing an identity crisis - like an Asian trying to subtle-ly blend into the ang mo scene to be accepted by Asians!
If not for Fujiwara Keiji, the seiyuu for Johnny Rayflo in Vassalord Drama CD i would have passed this series. Getting Johnny Rayflo to be Tony Stark is a good idea!!! Johnny's a playboy but serious when duty calls. Tony Stark (i'm going according to the movie Iron Man 2) is a flirt but serious when duty calls too. Since there's no Vassalord anime - which i think there better not be, after all the disappointments i'd experienced from most manga-to-anime series - watching a Johnny Rayflo human clone aka Tony Starks lets me drift into Johnny Rayflo mode thereby dying to see Cheri - uh Charlie - uh CHARLES - n hoping to see both in anime which i think there better not be but when i see Tony Starks i drift into Johnny Rayflo mode which..it's a vicious cycle i tell u..
I'M STILL WAITING FOR HAKUOKI SEASON 2 ENGLISH SUBS!!!! *CRY*
after being bitten by disappointments by so many anime i will NOT anticipate much from Togainu no Chi.
i duno how to feel about Koi Suru Boukun's next release, Ai no Kusabi's release (when is it?!!!!!) or any anime release..
but i'm gonna try some other anime series released in Fall..hopefully there's some redemption..
maybe the anime industry is really failing..
Closer To Home: ramblings of wat goes around me neighbourhood and local issues
Read more...i guess no matter how old we are, we'll always have that-kiddy-part-of us X3
Read more...it's extremely super movement-sensitive, so much more than the N95 8G that i had. i almost fling the X6 onto the road in frustration. i was listening to it's music player while walking n the song just stopped played stopped played every split second - wtf..sorry i'm way past my patience with Nokia's adverts of their high-end non/touchscreen phones
seems that it's movement-sensitive nonsense seems to exist in the rest of its models like 5800 Xpress, N97, etc
when i asked some of my friends with other phone brands: iPhone 4, Google Nexus, HTC Desire - they all said no such problem encountered
seriously - no offence but Nokia may like to consider surfing the net to read our bad reviews, find if the same problem exists in other of its models n do something about them before releasing n hype us on their new products
